Vadsø is the capital of Finnmark and is known as the Finn city of Vadsø due to the great amount of Finnish immigration in the mid-18th century. Vadsø is also known for its rich cultural life and Varanger has several festivals a year. In recent years, the king crab has come into the Varanger fjord, resulting in crab fishing becoming become very attractive for visitors.
